![]() The main MIDI instruments, piano (MIDI 1 thru 3, I think), are probably OK, but some of the others are clearly floor sweepings. The interpreter in the PC uses whatever instruments they could throw together. My large, floor-standing Yamaha keyboard uses careful sampling of real instruments for its tones. It’s not just arranging and playing 16 instruments. ![]() I used to “play” my keyboard and change the MIDI instrument IDs for odd effect.ĭownloading and playing existing MIDi songs was my introduction to MIDI as programming language. I haven’t actually tried to do that since my old, ironing-board keyboard. I don’t know how common MIDI interpreters are in modern computers. As we are fond of pointing out, it’s just machine control commands flying back and forth. Cakewalk could play the keyboard from the PC, or the PC from the keyboard. I checked and besides the installation report as successfully finished, the files are not in the folder. My pre-USB MIDI system could do that. Library/PreferencePanes/MIDI Drivers/YAMAHA-USBMIDIPatch.prefPane Note 2: In the installation guide of item 2, ask to confirm that the installation was successful if we have files in the folder: Note 1: I already tested using the original keyboard cable + USB HUB, as well as I bought a new USB-B to USB-C cable, connecting directly to the Macbook and the result was the same. When trying to use it with the keyboard, the MacBook is recognizing the midi interface (I can see it in the "Midi Studio" screen, but it does not recognize the audio interface, that means, I am able to control VST, exchange midi signals, but neither the operating system nor the DAW is recognizing the audio interface. I installed the latest version available from the Yamaha website:ġ) Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver V3.1.1 for Mac macOS 11/12(Intel/Apple silicon with Rosetta 2).Ģ) USB-MIDI Driver V1.5.0 for Mac macOS 12, 11 (Intel/Apple silicon with Rosetta 2) I just bought a MacBook with an M1 chip (Apple Silicon) and it's on macOS Monterey 12.4. Then I used the same controller with my Reason 10: it intuitively connected and worked perfectly. It is clear to me that there is no midi signal been sent to GB. I also checked with Window > Show Keyboard > hit a couple of keys and it works perfectly. I choose a Piano > Steinway Grand Piano (for example) > hit the keys on my controller. I continue with opening a Software Instrument. just in case.Īs far as I know this should be all I need to configure, right? Midi > Midi Status: 1 Midi input detected. Go to Preferences > Audio/Midi > Midi > Devices> Input: Built-in Microphone / Outbound: Built-in Output. It seems fairly easy to use however I am struggling to get my M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 Mk3 controller to work. I have some experience with audio recording software but it's the first time I work with GB.
